Today, we review another free VoIP service - Qttel!!
Qttel is a simple and neat service to call to almost 50 countries for free (does not include India). These countries include:
Andorra, Austria, Belgium, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Luxembourg, Monaco, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Russia, San Marino, Turkey, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, UK, Argentina, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Panama, Peru, Puerto Rico, USA, US-VI, Venezuela, Australia, Bahamas, China, Guam, Hong Kong, Japan, Singapore, Korea South, Malaysia, New Zealand, Taiwan, and Thailand.
The interface is minimal, you need to enter your number and the number of the person you want to call. Qttel will then connect your call. Note that each call can last up to 5 minutes. You can, however, dial the number again to speak to the same person. You can even use their widget on your blogs, websites or your Facebook and MySpace profile. There are no registrations, no downloads, and no payments!!
The only flip side is that you can make calls from only 5 countries (Australia, Canada, UK, Holland, and USA). So if you are in one of these countries, you can stop reading and head straight to Qttel. But if you are not in one of these countries, do not worry...TruVoIP is here to help. All you need to use this service is a local number in one of the 5 countries listed above. While you can buy DIDs relatively cheaply in any of these countries, you can get a US number for FREE from one of the free DID providers like Ipkall or Gizmoproject. You can learn more about how to use Voxalot to do this here. So get yourself a US number and forward it to your Voxalot account. Then you can use one the 6 methods listed here to be reached on your US number.
Given that most of our calls are less than 5 minutes, this is a great solution (you cannot complaint..its free) for most of our telecom needs!!!

There's a little bit better service called FreeRinger which does not have limitation on call duration and you don't need any Gizmo DID.
Check it on http://www.freeringer.biz/
Hi, do you really believe that this VoIP really works?
I wonder as their Alexa is low, Zero PR and displaying Adsense...the site design is poor, can you pl confirm if this really works or not?

@Piyush
I tried it myself and it worked!!! I agree it does not look very authentic, but then again they are not asking for any money :)
@gtalk2voip
Thanks for pointing that out. Freeringer is definitely a great alternative, but I guess it is always good to have some options.
Hi, yes i just tried Qttel and its free, its very cool just call anytime you want and where you want put the widget anywhere you want. But i think they gonna make that you can pay to call how long you want.
@Anonymous
I am glad that you found it useful. Probably in the future, they might find some way to monetize their offering, but till then enjoy!!!
